Predicted Liverpool line-up to face Southampton in the Premier League
Liverpool continued their fine form this season by picking up an important 3-2 victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The Reds are now unbeaten in 6 games and have made their best start in 57 years.
Jurgen Klopp now turns his attention to Southampton in the Premier League this weekend. The Saints travel to Anfield and aren’t in the best of forms. Klopp will be hoping for another strong performance at home.
Team News
Apart from long-term absentees, Liverpool have no real injury concerns. Jurgen Klopp will also be boosted by the return of Dejan Lovren to training, although it is a doubt if he is fit enough for the weekend game. Changes are expected to be made in order to keep the squad fresh.
Probable Liverpool XI
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
Formation: 4-3-3
Alisson Becker (GK)
Alisson impressed on his Champions League debut and will continue in goal for Liverpool.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)
Arnold is at an age where he can seamlessly play multiple games in a week. He seems to be getting better each time he steps onto the field. The youngster was mature in his handling of Neymar as well.
Virgil Van Dijk (CB)
Van Dijk continues to turn heads with his majestic performances so far. He will lead the Reds at the back for this game as he comes up against his former employers.
Joe Gomez (CB)
Gomez and Van Dijk are proving to be a force to reckon with and Klopp could go with the same partnership once again.
Andrew Robertson (LB)
Robertson is yet to put a foot wrong in his Liverpool career. It was another flawless performance, against PSG.
Jordan Henderson (RCM)
Henderson is expected to continue in central midfield and supply the forwards with passes.
Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)
The Dutchman has flourished after being shifted to a No.6 role this season. He should continue in the middle of the park.
Naby Keita (LCM)
Liverpool’s new arrival will be fully refreshed after sitting out the game against PSG. He should return to the line-up for this one.
Sadio Mane (LW)
Mane will be aiming to score against his former club as he continues his fine form in front of goal.
Bobby Firmino (ST)
The Brazilian proved just what he means to this team by scoring the winner against PSG. He was a substitute in that game but should start this one in place of Daniel Sturridge.
