The Karim Benzema to Arsenal rumours have died down some time ago, yet the talks about the whole transfer saga just don’t seem to end. Right through the summer there were claims that the Real Madrid forward could be moving to the Emirates and at times did make sense as well. The superstar striker is very good and the Gunners would have wanted to add more attacking options to their squad and definitely the one who is French.
It is no secret that Arsene Wenger loves French forwards, as he has already signed stars like Thierry Henry, Nicolas Anelka, Jérémie Aliadière, Sylvain Wiltord, Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo and signing the former Lyon man would have been the icing on the cake.
Well from the point of view of the French striker it would have made sense too, if the rumours in the Madrid press were true, as Benzema did not get too much game last term with all the big names at the club.
Though, the French striker himself dismissed these claims, Spain’s El Confidencial journalist Kike Marin, who is well respected by fans of the London club, said that the 27 year old superstar ‘spent the summer flirting with Wenger to go to Arsenal’. Well, whether the claims are true or not, remains to be seen, though the deal did not eventually go through.
