Liverpool already have three goalkeepers who can play for the first team. Thus we could not understand how Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan was linked with a move to Anfield at the first place.
However according to an interview with AS, Adan has ruled out a move to Liverpool in the summer. The Reds have recently signed Loris Karius and also have Simon Mignolet and Adam Bogdan at the club. While it cannot be said that either of them are a world class goalkeeper, adding another similar goalkeeper probably does not make any sense other than increasing competition within the squad. It is unsure who will be the first choice goalkeeper at Anfield next season.
Speaking to the media, Adan said, “Liverpool? I’ve only recently signed a new contract and I did that because I feel important here with Betis, therefore it’s something I’m not really thinking about.”
Rightly said, as the player is unlikely to be as important as he is for Betis right now. It is natural when there are four goalkeepers capable of playing for the first team.
