Predicted Leeds United Line-up To Face Aston Villa In The EFL Championship
Leeds United are thinking more positively after their 2-0 win at Barnsley, and while their opponents Aston Villa come into the game on a good run of their own (3 wins from 3). A closer look at their form means Leeds should hold no fear.
Their win at QPR was nothing special, while their two recent home victories against Sunderland and Ipswich were workmanlike but unspectacular. Leeds then should hit them hard in the early stages and may well get a half-time lead, something they should then go on to take full advantage of.
Pablo Hernandez, Samu Saiz and Luke Ayling are all in danger of a one-match ban having picked up four yellow cards each but may all play a part this time.
Felix Wiedwald was quite rightly restored to the side for the Barnsley game and should keep his place in goal, while Ronaldo Vieira is likely to return to the line-up after his own suspension.
Manager: Thomas Christiansen
GK – Felix Wiedwald
His unfair treatment earlier in the season was as a result of the fans not wishing to let Rob Green go, though the fact of the matter is he’s a better ‘keeper than Andy Lonergan.
RB – Luke Ayling
In danger of a suspension, but should carry on here against one of the better sides in the league overall.
CB – Pontus Jansson
Still one of the best defenders in this league, it appears he will be paired once again with Cooper.
CB – Liam Cooper
Leeds are in the market, for now, though he continues alongside the big Swede.
LB – Gaetano Berardi
Left-back is still a position Leeds need to strengthen, however, Berardi should do a decent job against Villa.
CM – Ronaldo Vieira
Likely to come back into the side in place of O’Kane.
CM – Kalvin Phillips
Looks good next to Vieira and they should be allowed to rekindle their partnership in midfield.
RW – Egzijan Alioski
The wide man is absolutely on fire at the moment and I wouldn’t bet against him scoring again.
CAM – Samu Saiz
These three are doing well behind the striker right now and are likely to play together once more.
LW – Pablo Hernandez
Still possessing a killer final ball, Hernandez needs space to show his best moves and may get it here.
ST – Kemar Roofe
With Lasogga having gone AWOL, Roofe may be recalled up front in place of Caleb Ekuban to fill what is now a problem role for Thomas Christiansen.
