Lawrence and Marriott to start – Strongest 4-3-3 Derby County XI to face Millwall in the Championship

Predicted Derby County line-up to face Millwall in the Championship

Derby County return to Championship action on Saturday following their midweek Carabao Cup first round victory over Oldham Athletic.

The Rams will be looking to get back to winning ways against Millwall on Saturday, having lost 4-1 at home to Leeds United last weekend.

Team News

Tom Huddlestone and David Nugent are back in training but they are doubtful for the Millwall clash on Saturday.

Curtis Davies, meanwhile, is still a week away from returning to action after sustaining a muscle injury.

Ikechi Anya is back to training after recovering from injury, while Marcus Olsson remains sidelined.

Probable Derby County XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Frank Lampard

Scott Carson (GK)

Carson is Derby’s undisputed No.1 and is expected to start on Saturday after a fine performance in the Carabao Cup.

Andre Wisdom (RB)

Wisdom should come back straight into the starting line-up after being rested for the midweek cup game.

Richard Keogh

Richard Keogh (CB)

Richard Keogh will have to be in top form to keep the Millwall attackers at bay.

Fikayo Tomori (CB)

It appeared as if Tomori had given Derby the lead against Oldham but it was eventually called offside. Tomori impressed at the back and played his part in the clean sheet.

Scott Malone (LB)

Malone was impressive on his debut, often getting forward and delivering a good cross from the left. He could be in for another start at the weekend.

George Evans (CDM)

Evans looked comfortable in the holding midfielder’s position against Oldham, always eager to get on the ball. After a fine outing in the Carabao Cup, he should start on Saturday.

Craig Bryson (RCM)

Bryson is a hard working midfielder who, on his day, is one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the division.

Mason Mount (LCM)

Mount scored a fantastic goal against Oldham and is a sure starter against Millwall. He adds so much energy to the midfield, gets into promising positions and keeps Derby ticking.

Tom Lawrence (LW)

Lawrence was an unused substitute in the win over Oldham in the Carabao Cup. He will be fresh against Millwall and can work his magic from the left. The Welshman looks a more rounded player than before.

Florian Jozefzoon (RW)

Jozefzoon may not be prolific but he is a very good winger at this level and will bring the likes of Bryson, Evans, Lawrence and Marriott into play.

Jack Marriott (ST)

Marriott did well against Oldham, although he was unlucky to not find himself on the scoresheet. He worked off the ball, showed great energy and by doing so, ideally staked a claim for a start against Millwall.
