Norwich City monitoring Brentford midfielder Emiliano Marcondes

According to the Daily Mail, EFL Championship leaders Norwich City are keeping tabs on the contract situation of Brentford star Emiliano Marcondes ahead of the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old midfielder started out at the academy of Hvidovre IF in his homeland Denmark before moving to the Nordsjaelland youth setup in 2010.

Having risen through the ranks, Marcondes went on to make 120 appearances, before signing for Brentford in January 2018 on a free transfer.

After spending 18 months at the club, the midfielder spent the first half of the last season on loan at Midtjylland. Since returning, Marcondes has been a regular at the club and has gone on to feature 77 times for the Bees, scoring seven goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Pretty much a regular fixture in the side, Marcondes has featured in 16 of Brentford’s 20 Championship matches this term. However, the Dane’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, sparking speculations over his future.

While talks over a new deal have been held. Marcondes’ situation has attracted interest from current Championship leaders Norwich City.

The Canaries are pushing hard to secure a swift return to the Premier League and may dip their toes into the market to bolster the squad.

Along with Norwich, Marcondes has also popped up on the radars of fellow Championship clubs Nottingham Forest as well as QPR.

However, with talks being held between the midfielder and Brentford, there is still a chance that he might pen a new contract with the Bees. It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming weeks.

Derby County keen to sign Tyler Roberts from Leeds United

According to Football Insider (h/t Derbyshire Live), EFL Championship outfit Derby County are interested in signing Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts in January.

It is further claimed that the Premier League side will allow a transfer to go through provided they can secure a replacement for the 21-year-old.

Roberts came through the youth ranks at West Brom. He had loan spells away at Oxford United, Shrewsbury Town and Walsall. The striker made just one senior appearance for the Baggies before securing a permanent transfer to Leeds United in January 2018.

Since joining the Whites, the 21-year-old has made 63 appearances. But he has managed to score just seven goals and set up seven. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The Englishman has struggled for game time since Leeds were promoted to the Premier League. Roberts, so far this term, has played just 237 minutes of league football and is yet to score a goal.

And Derby County are prepared to offer him a way out of Elland Road in January. The Rams have struggled for goals this season. They are expected to invest heavily in January if a deal to sell the club to Sheikh Khaled Zayed Bin Saquer Zayed Al Nayhan is completed. (h/t Derbyshire Live)

The 21-year-old is valued at £4m and could be made available by Leeds in January, only if they can bring in a new face to replace him.

Norwich City forward Carlton Morris wanted by Barnsley

According to The Telegraph (h/t Eastern Daily Press), Norwich City striker Carlton Morris has emerged as a transfer target for Barnsley ahead of the January transfer window. The 24-year-old is currently on loan at MK Dons.

Morris is a product of the Norwich City academy but has never quite been able to make the grade in the first-team.

The centre-forward has had loan spells away at Oxford United, York City, Hamilton Academical, Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town before enjoying another temporary stint at Rotherham.

This past January saw Morris join MK Dons on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season, following which he was signed on for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign on another temporary deal.

So far this term, Morris has made 22 appearances for MK Dons in all competitions, scoring four goals in the process. The Englishman has now entered the radars of Barnsley, who are keen on signing him. (h/t Eastern Daily Press)

Morris is in the final year of his current contract with Norwich City. This January would be their final chance to make some money from the 24-year-old’s sale. It is claimed that the Canaries are likely to demand a transfer fee of £300,000. (h/t Eastern Daily Press)
