Leeds United News: Marcelo Bielsa reveals the facts behind the last minute goals for Leeds

The inconsistency has seen the Whites go behind Norwich City in the table. Meanwhile, Bielsa also drew massive attention with his Spygate controversy. The injury list also stacked up causing further trouble to the manager.

The Whites picked up an important draw against Middlesbrough last week after a poor start to this year. After conceding a goal at the start of the second half, the Whites found the equalizer in injury time. Kalvin Phillips became their hero as his header helped the side edge out a point.

Fitness is crucial

Following the match, Bielsa stated that the fitness of the players played a key role in their team’s draw.

“It’s not convenient to be overweight, but it’s not the only aspect that decides the physical performance,” said the Whites manager (h/t Leeds Live)

“The quality of the training sessions is also important and the professionalism of the player is more important than the quality of the training session because to get a good physical performance you need rest”.

He further commented that character and personality are the other aspects of a team’s success.

The game also evidenced the early departure of Jack Clarke who fell ill in the dugout. He was then taken to the hospital.

Bielsa had a terrible start to this month with the defeat against Norwich followed by his Spygate controversy taking the spotlight. Nonetheless, he was able to overcome the odds with the draw against Middlesbrough.
