Leicester signing £40m PL star as Vardy’s partner would make the Foxes frontline a fearsome one – opinion

Leicester City Opinion – Should Leicester City sign Callum Wilson?

According to a report in Sun Football, Leicester City will back new manager Brendan Rodgers with a transfer kitty of £200m over his three-year contract at the King Power Stadium.

Starting with this summer, the former Liverpool boss will target the likes of
£40m striker Callum Wilson of Bournemouth, as he aims to begin the rebuilding process (h/t Sun).

The Foxes already have many budding talents in their team – namely Harry Maguire, James Maddison, Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell. Rodgers is a type of manager who prefers working with prodigious young players and make them world-beaters in due course of time.

Hence, the club have made the right managerial appointment. The next step would be to back him with the funds in the transfer windows. Here’s why they should offer the money to help the manager buy Callum Wilson:

Wilson up front with Vardy would be ideal

Leicester have one of the best strikers in the league in Jamie Vardy but they lack quality apart from that. Shinji Okazaki and Kelechi Iheanacho haven’t done enough to either support their main man or replace him in the team.

Hence, it would make sense to buy a high-quality striker and team him up with the Englishman. That being said, Callum Wilson could be an ideal man to be a strike partner for Vardy.

The Bournemouth man is currently injured but his form in the Premier League has been close to perfect. He is a typical hard-working number nine who would give his all to press the opposition centre-backs and finish the chances when they come.

Rodgers can use him alongside Vardy as a front two, with the creativity and guile of Gray and Maddison behind. That front four would be a fearsome combination for any defence to deal with.
