Leicester City Opinion: Why Nadiem Amiri would be a good fit at Leicester?
According to Sport Bild, Leicester City are battling it out with German side Bayer Leverkusen for the Hoffenheim starlet Nadiem Amiri. (h/t Leicester Mercury)
Nadiem Amiri, 22, was part of the Germany squad that lost to Spain in the Euro Under-21 final, and during the tournament, he scored three goals and registered two assists in five appearances. He has a year left on his contract with Hoffenheim and has a release clause of €14 million, although that only lasts for another month.
That being said, Leicester City must do everything possible to beat Bayer Leverkusen to the signing of Amiri.
The Foxes have already made some exciting signings this summer, with the likes of James Justin, Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez arriving at the King Power Stadium.
Under Brendan Rodgers, Leicester showed glimpses of promise in the second half of last season and finished a respectable ninth in the table. However, Rodgers and co. will be keen to kick on and break into the top six and beyond next term.
The Midlands club need quality and strength in depth for that to happen and thus, a move for Amiri would make complete sense. Amiri has been a regular for Hoffenheim since making his senior debut for the club in 2015. He endured an injury-hit last season in the Bundesliga, thus managing only 13 appearances.
A versatile player who can play in different positions across the midfield, the Germany Under-21 international could make a huge difference with his vision and creative passing at the King Power Stadium. Amiri is a top passer of the ball and also very good at playing line-breaking passes to set up attacking opportunities for his teammates.
He has the attributes to win the ball back from the possession as well as quickly set his team for the counter.

The potential addition of Amiri would undoubtedly bolster Leicester’s midfield ranks.
The Foxes could form a fantastic midfield that beats the one they had last year, with Amiri alongside Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans. They would get enough offensive and defensive ability in their midfield.
After the permanent capture of Tielemans, if Rodgers can sign Amiri it’ll strengthen them massively for the upcoming season and even see them realistically challenge the Big Six.
