Bundesliga – Bayern Munich Player Ratings vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern Munich continued on their winning ways as they defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 at the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The away team looked to take the game to the German champions and enjoyed some decent spells, but it was Bayern who took the lead through Robert Lewandowski in the 38th minute. Three minutes later Die Roten doubled their lead through Douglas Costa after some excellent work by David Alaba on the left-side. Lewandowski doubled his tally for the day, six minutes into the second-half and Bayern saw off the game comfortably there after.
The win meant Bayern extend their lead to ten points at the top, above the second-placed RB Leipzig and manager Carlo Ancelotti will be pleased with his team. Let’s assess how each Bayern fared on the day:
Bayern Munich Player Ratings
Manuel Neuer – 7/10
The German shot-stopper had almost nothing to do for the entire game. Was tested a few times in the first-half but nothing that caused him any trouble.
Phillip Lahm – 7/10
The captain had a solid outing at the back for Bayern. Continues to demonstrate that age is just a number with his energy and enthusiasm on the pitch.
Javi Martinez – 6.5/10
The Spaniard was slightly outshone by his defensive partner on the day, but nevertheless another typically sturdy showing in defence.
Mats Hummels – 7.5/10
Produced a magnificent tackle to thwart Frankfurt early in the game, and his game went on getting better from then on. Absolutely brilliant at the back.
David Alaba – 7/10
The Austrian full-back enjoyed a great deal romping forward on every occasion. Drilled in an excellent cross to Costa for the second goal.
Thiago Alcantara – 7/10
The Spaniard was the conductor in the middle of the park for Bayern. Everything went through him and pulled the strings on the day.
Arturo Vidal – 7.5/10
Provided the hustle and bustle in the midfield. Was the force in the middle of the park that Bayern needed to hold the fort, with Frankfurt looking to take the game to them.
Arjen Robben – 7/10
Cut in from the flank to devastating effect, as has become the norm. Was a danger for the visitors’ defence throughout the game.
Thomas Muller – 7.5/10
Was a thorn in the opponents’ stride, with his intelligent movement. Showed great presence of mind to latch on to a loose ball and tee up Lewandowski.
Douglas Costa – 7/10
Replaced Franck Ribery in the line-up from the Champions League encounter, but did not have the desired impact. However, took his goal well.
Robert Lewandowski – 8/10
Who’s gonna stop him?! Lewandowski continued on his merry ways, getting on the scoresheet twice in the game, on either side of half-time. Took his tally to 21 strikes for the season.
Substitutes
Jerome Boateng – 6/10
Came on for Martinez in the 65th minute. Marked his first appearance after a long-term injury lay-off. Looked comfortable, with not a lot to do.
Kingsley Coman – 6/10
Came in for Lewandowski with fifteen minutes left to play. Did nothing of note.
Renato Sanches – 6/10
Replaced Vidal in the 78th minute. Missed a chance late in the game, heading wide from a Thiago free-kick.
