Where Will Klopp Accommodate This £40million Signing In The Lineup?

How Liverpool Could Line Up With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain In The Mix

Liverpool have successfully completed the signing of versatile English midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, for a fee reported to be £40million

The 24-year old was in the final year of his contract with the Gunners, and had rejected a new offer that was put on the table by the club. Premier League title holders Chelsea were also in the running for the signature of the former Southampton man, but the player rejected a move to the Stamford Bridge, as he was intent on joining Liverpool. The main reason behind the Ox’s decision is understood to be the fact that he sees himself playing as a central midfielder, whereas the Blues wanted him to continue playing as a wing-back, as he did for Arsenal.

Now that the deal is all wrapped up, here we take a look at how Liverpool would line up with their latest summer acquisition in the team.

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Formation: 4-3-3

Simon Mignolet (GK)

The Belgian is likely to hold on to his No.1 spot between the sticks, ahead of Loris Karius who was given a start against Arsenal last weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

With Nathaniel Clyne out injured, the youngster has grabbed the opportunity with both hands and has made sure Klopp has something to think about once the former Southampton man returns to fitness.

Joel Matip (CB)

The Cameroonian has developed into a mainstay in the backline for the Merseysiders and will be a constant fixture when fit.

Dejan Lovren (CB)

Now that Virgil van Dijk hasn’t arrived, Klopp will have to trust Lovren to do the job for him alongside Matip in the heart of the defence.

Andrew Robertson

Andrew Robertson (LB)

The summer arrival from Hull City has played a solitary game so far, but what an impression he made, on his debut, against Crystal Palace. While Alberto Moreno too has struck good form, we could see Robertson nail down the spot as the season progresses.

Jordan Henderson (DM)

The club captain has had a slow start to the season and still doesn’t look 100% fit following his long injury layoff. Will occupy the deepest of the three midfield positions.

Emre Can (CM)

The former Bayern Munich man has started the new season in scintillating form and is playing some of his best football in Liverpool colours. Irremovable.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM)

The only place where Oxlade-Chamberlain could stake a claim for at this point in the Liverpool line-up is that of Giorgino Wijnaldum’s. The Dutchman has had a sluggish start and with the new signing’s wish to play in the middle of the park, the former Newcastle United man could be benched to accommodate the Ox.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

The 25-year old Egyptian has had a blistering start to life at Anfield, scoring 3 goals and registering 5 assists already. Has made the right flank his own.

Roberto Firmino (CF)

3 goals and 3 assists in 5 games mean Firmino has nailed down the centre-forward slot in Klopp’s set-up.

Sadio Mane (LW)

To complete to what looks like one of the most dangerous attacks in the Premier League, Sadio Mane will take the left wing. The Senegalese too has netted three times already this season and looks to be in the mood.
