Liverpool Opinion: 3 Ideal Replacements For Raheem Sterling Including A Speedster From Arsenal

The sharks are out to catch their prey, lying about in a pool of blood formed by a new injury, this isn’t a lead up to a new Jaws movie, and it rather sums up just how the papers and supporters have taken on the Raheem Sterling contract saga. The youngster came out with an ill-timed and ill-advised interview and has been rightly panned for it. It hasn’t helped him that his performances are nothing short of poor for a few games and all talk about getting a fatter pay cheque has been put on hold for now.

Raheem Sterling

Reports have started to buzz around that Sterling might be off from Liverpool with prices soaring to nearly £50 million and while that would be big bucks for Liverpool; they would lose out on a talent that has been described as a future superstar in the world of football.

Nothing is irreplaceable in football as they say, the club is bigger than any individual, while Sterling could be on his way out, and we look at 3 replacements for Sterling at Liverpool.

Theo Walcott

While Sterling stated he was flattered by the interest from Arsenal, his move to the club could be done with the transfer of Walcott the other way. Walcott might be 26 years old, but he has been one of Arsenal’s best players for a couple of years and seems to be living up to his potential. He still has time to grow more and is a known Liverpool supporter, it might be hard to lure him with Liverpool not guaranteed Champions League football but you never know.

Jordon Ibe

Liverpool could have the perfect replacement already in their team, Jordon Ibe was recalled from his loan at Derby and he has impressed. The 19 year old has played primarily as a wing back for Liverpool, but he is versatile enough to play in attack, in a similar position to Sterling’s. He is built more robustly than Sterling and has the pace and ability to match, surely he is set for better and bigger things in the future.

Zakaria Bakkali

The 19 year old winger has been on the target list for almost all the large European clubs and PSV Eindhoven has stated that they would have a hard time to hold onto him if the right amount comes calling. Tricky, fast and gifted, Bakkali might be ready to take the big step into Premier League football with Liverpool having been linked with the Belgian earlier; this could be the time to bring another youngster in the team.
