Liverpool signing this talented Leeds teenager would get them a perfect backup for Andy Robertson

Liverpool opinion: Should the Reds make a move for Leif Davis?

Liverpool finished the season just one point behind Manchester City. After all their fighting and the two Premier League giants going head to head, the two ended up finishing with just one point separating them. It’s a stunning conclusion to what was an entertaining season.

Sure, it didn’t have the ending that most Liverpool fans hoped for but it was a season to remember. It was a season where the Reds managed to accumulate more points than either Manchester United’s treble winning season or Arsenal’s Invincibles.

It was a season where both sides broke scoring records, assist records and so many more.

This was the season that will go down as a battle between two world-class sides that were coached by world-class managers. But in the end, the difference was just one point.

If one game had gone right for Liverpool, they would be in a different position right now. But as unfortunate as that sounds, there are a lot of positives that Jurgen Klopp can take from this season.

The Reds did very well and don’t have to make wholesale changes to his teamsheet. Instead, a few changes here and there will help the squad.

One key area has to be his full-backs. Both, Andrew Robertson and Trent-Alexander Arnold performed incredibly well but they had no back-up. Injuries saw James Milner and even Jordan Henderson play as full-backs and that’s a situation no club should endure.

It’s why a move for Leif Davis makes a lot of sense, with the 19-year-old being linked with a move to Liverpool by the Sun. A talented full-back, the Leeds United starlet has done well so far but needs to take the next step to further his career.

A modern full-back, Davis does the offensive and the defensive side of the game very well. Sure, he isn’t at a level where he can play regularly for Liverpool but his talent has many believing he can do even better one day.

It’s that kind of youthful exuberance and confidence that the Reds need backing up Andrew Robertson.
