Liverpool signing this £135.5m Barcelona star would make them more devastating in the attack

Why Liverpool should definitely make the move for Ousmane Dembele

According to the Mirror, Liverpool are ready to make a renewed bid for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. The report suggests that the Spanish champions are now more than willing to sell the French attacker in the upcoming transfer window. Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be interested in his services.

Dembele turned up 25 minutes late for a team meeting and that seems to have sparked his exile from the squad. Jurgen Klopp’s men thrashed Cardiff City to stay second on the table, behind Manchester City on goal difference.

If the Reds are to keep up with their rivals in terms of goals scored, they are certainly going to need at least one more attacker in their squad. Klopp should definitely consider making the move for Dembele.

Since joining from Borussia Dortmund last year, the £135.5m Frenchman has endured a mixed start to his spell at Camp Nou. A number of persistent injury troubles have often kept him out of the side.

But the 21-year-old has proven to be absolutely devastating on the ball. He is comfortable playing with both feet. Dembele is also capable of shooting the ball effortlessly with both his feet, such is his talent.

The former Dortmund winger is generally deployed as a left winger but he is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline. He would definitely thrive in either of Klopp’s 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation. Though Sadio Mane currently occupies Dembele’s favoured position in the squad, the Frenchman can also sit as a central attacking midfielder just behind the striker.

Over the last month, Liverpool’s attack have also shown signs of inconsistency and the arrival of Dembele would provide them with a new dimension in the team, just like Xherdan Shaqiri has. Liverpool will be even more devastating during their trademark counter-attacks with the Barcelona winger in the squad. He possesses supreme pace and ability on the ball.

The youngster has already picked up 3 goals and 1 assist in 10 La Liga appearances this season. He has scored 1 goal in his only Champions League start as well. Dembele is a fine finisher in front of the goal and is capable of whipping in some delicious deliveries into the box. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)
