Liverpool signing this 21-year-old tricky Dutch wonderkid would pay rich dividends in the future

Liverpool must go all out to sign Arnaut Groeneveld from Club Brugge

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Club Brugge star Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld by the Daily Mail. Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp are a team that have come to become very adept in the transfer market.

By making smart signings at the perfect times at low costs, Liverpool have led by example over the last couple of seasons in terms of how to spend the money effectively. As seen from the purchase of Mohamed Salah, they’ve proven that it’s not necessary for clubs to make £100m superstar signings to attain success in England.

Another fine example of some shrewd and clever business carried out by Jurgen Klopp was the recent deal for Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri. Although he was at Stoke City who got relegated to the Championship last term, his value was certainly much higher than the meagre £13m that was paid for him.

These were low-key signings when they were made but turned out to be marquee signings because of the performances that both players have showcased. While Shaqiri has obviously had an effect on this team, there’s no need to talk about Salah as his exploits from last season are now well renowned.

Liverpool seem to be lining up another similar deal for 21-year-old Dutch winger Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld. He currently plies his trade in the Jupiler League in Belgium where he represents Club Brugge. He is a left-winger who came through the world famous PSV academy.

He is a quick winger who is extremely tricky on the ball and boasts a low centre of gravity. His sharp movements make him very hard to mark while his cuts and turns are extremely unpredictable. While he is good at delivering crosses, his biggest strength is his ability to cut in onto his right foot and curl the ball into the top corner.

Like Anthony Martial of Manchester United, Arnaut’s speciality is beating the opposition wing-back by cutting in before wrapping his foot around the ball to give it the whip and bend it needs to beat the keeper.

He is also a team player who prefers to stay wide and support rather than take up a free role and roam. For a team boasting Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Arnaut could be the perfect substitute to come on and make a difference. Jurgen Klopp would do well to land this player.
