Liverpool Opinion: Why Liverpool should sign Piotr Zielinski from Napoli
Liverpool‘s midfield has been a bit shaky this season and Jurgen Klopp has struggled, with his main men either out of form or injured. With club captain Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana prone to injuries and James Milner ageing, Liverpool are left Fabinho, Keita and Wijnaldum in central midfield.
Hence, the Reds should look at midfielders to fill the void and Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski is a brilliant option.
Zielinski started his Serie A career with Udinese at just 18 years of age. After just 4 starts for the club, he was sent out on loan to fellow Serie A side Empoli for the next 2 seasons. The Pole made 63 appearances for the club in 2 years before making a big money move to Napoli in 2016.
Zieliński is naturally a central midfielder but is also capable of handling the more advanced role further up the pitch either centrally or on the flanks. Zielinski is fearless with the ball, he can carry it forward with speed and strength and has the ability to pick a pass.
His intelligent positioning helps create space for himself and his teammates and allows him to release a killer pass to set the forwards through on goal.
His authority over the ball is exceptional and his ability to drive forward and beat defenders with his impressive pace and magnificent close control makes him a dangerous player.

Zielinski also has the brilliant ability of getting the perfect amount of weight and spin on his long passes which is a brilliant asset for a team like Liverpool, whose forwards thrive on such balls.
The 24-year-old is also lethal from distance and can unleash a fearsome strike with both feet. However, the former Udinese man has a lot to improve when it comes to his defensive duties as he often gets bullied due to his small frame.
The Napoli midfielder has averaged 1.7 key passes per game and 2.1 shots per game so far this campaign. He also boasts an impressive 2.3 long passes every game with a brilliant overall passing accuracy of close to 90%.
Zielinski will be a perfect fit in the Liverpool midfield alongside Fabinho or even in front of him in a more attacking role. The Pole is under contract until the summer of 2021 and a move won’t be cheap but Liverpool can certainly afford the midfielder and a move for him will be worth the money in the long run.
