Liverpool Transfer Updates Including Carroll To WestHam

If one club have shown the maximum intention this transfer season, it is none other than Liverpool. Although not any stellar signings so far, Brendan Rodgers and co are determined not to repeat their mistakes from last year as they made it late in the transfer window and ended up playing with only Suarez as their main attacking player up until January.

Liverpool have already secured the services of Manchester City defender Kolo Toure as a replacement for the retired Jamie Carragher. They have also agreed to a deal in principal for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas and it is expected that the deal would be completed very soon. However, their transfer spree is far from over with the club looking to make some other useful addition to their ranks. It has been reported that Rodgers is looking at three players right now and hope to proceed with their transfers very soon.

The first player on Rodgers’ list is Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori. Although the Merseyside club have roped in one central defender, but still Martin Skrtel’s future is undecided and if he chooses to leave the club, then they would be needing one more player in the central defence. Ilori is bound to provide good services to the team with him being already in the limelight for all the right kinds of reasons.

However, the Reds bid of around €4.2m was rejected by Sporting. Sky Sports confirmed the news earlier this week, suggesting that the Portuguese club will not consider selling Ilori until they receive a bid of €10m.

Next up is Shakhtar midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is held in much high regards by the manager. If Suarez leaves for Real Madrid, Liverpool would be required to boost their attack and he will be absolutely vital for the club in the post Suarez era. He is being valued at £20m by his current club and if Suarez leaves, Liverpool should not have no problem arranging the money. This rumour has been going on for sometime now, and there have bot been any significant progress as Shakhtar has claimed that Liverpool are yet to contact them regarding Mkhitaryan.

However, The Guardian has reported that Liverpool are increasingly optimistic about signing Shakhtar Donetsk’s £22m-rated midfielder while uncertainty continues over the futures of Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll.

It is also being rumoured that Barcelona youngster Luis Alberto is also in the radar of the Reds and Rodgers would bid for him very soon. Rodgers had always tried to influx young players in the team and Alberto may be just the kind of midfielder that Rodgers needs for his team at the moment.

West Ham, Liverpool, Andy Carroll

In other news, Liverpool striker, Andy Carroll is all set to join West Ham as club co-chairman David Gold believes a deal is close for the England international who scored seven goals last season whilst on-loan at Upton Park.

Gold said on his twitter page: “The chances of AC joining West Ham has risen from 50/50 to 75/25.”

It is known that West Ham had completed the deal with Liverpool after they agreed a fee of around £15.5million last month, only for the striker to stall the contract later, but now it appears that the England International may have closed in on a permanent move to the Upton park. A four-year-contract worth £80,000-a-week is on the table, but it is said that Carroll and his agent Mark Curtis are looking for a package around £100,000-a-week to sign.
