Liverpool’s future would be in safe hands if they land this 16-year-old promising starlet in the summer – opinion

Liverpool opinion: Jurgen Klopp wants Jeremy Doku – good move?

Italian news outlet Calciomercato has reported that Liverpool are interested in making a move for Jeremy Doku. Currently at Anderlecht, the 16-year-old made his debut this season for the Belgian side after impressing with the U15s and U16s over the last few years.

A versatile player, Doku has done relatively well for the club, keeping up with the hype surrounding him. The expectations were very high when he made his debut for the club and rightly so, with many believing that the young winger is the best talent to emerge from the youth academy.

An academy that has fostered the likes of Leander Dendoncker, Youri Tielemans, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Romelu Lukaku and Vincent Kompany among many others, it shows just how much potential the young 16-year-old could have at his disposal.

And as a result, it is no surprise that Liverpool have been linked with a move for him. Of late, the Reds have been targeting highly rated youth players from all over the world, including England and now Belgium as they look to strengthen their team.

The likes of Luke Hewitson, Harrison Jones and James McConnel from Sunderland (Shields Gazette) are being scouted and the Reds have completed a move for Ben Winterbottom (Liverpool FC).

It shows that the club are looking towards the future and a move for Jeremy Doku would work perfectly.

Very similar to Eden Hazard, the 16-year-old is a powerful winger. Very attack-minded, Doku is very good offensively and has been an immense threat in the final third.

A move would definitely help Liverpool, as the young forward is definitely someone the club can build their team around in the near future.

That’s especially. But like most youth products, Jeremy Doku also has his fair share of weaknesses but it’s nothing that cannot be ironed out with time.

His decision making in the final third needs to improve along with a zest and work rate to do the defensive side of the game as well. But as mentioned, all that is something which will improve with time and under a right coach.

Conclusion

Jeremy Doku is a class act in the making and if Liverpool sign him now, it effectively ensures their future for a good 15-odd years. Even if the young forward turns to be only half as good as Eden Hazard, that’s still a pretty impressive player.
