Luhukay to make 2 important changes – Strongest 3-5-2 Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Millwall

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday line-up to face Millwall in the Championship

Sheffield Wednesday are a team in need of points after losing two of their three league games, drawing the other. Hence, Jos Luhukay’s men need to step up after losing to Brentford on Saturday. The manager changed his formation to a usual 4-3-3 but it didn’t work at all. So we might see him go back to a more defensive 3-5-2 shape.

The Owls don’t have a very big squad and they possess a few injury concerns which may force the manager to not make drastic changes in the line-up. He now must trust the players he has and should try to churn out results before the season starts getting away from his hands.

Team News

Versatile midfielder Adam Reach is still an injury concern. Liam Palmer may be recalled to play at left wing-back. Almen Abdi and Kieran Lee are still out with injuries while Gary Hooper has to rebuild his full fitness.

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

Manager: Jos Luhukay

Formation: 3-5-2

Cameron Dawson (GK)

He has been impressive for the Owls and may need to continue his form if the team are to collect some points in the coming games.

Ashley Baker (RWB)

He was decent in the last game and may get another chance to prove his worth in the team.

Jordan Thorniley (RCB)

He played out of position at left-back on Saturday. Expect him to start in his natural position on Wednesday.

Tom Lees

Tom Lees (CB)

Lees has performed well in patches thus far, and so he needs to iron out his mistakes and become an integral part of a defence which requires improvement.

Daniel Pudil (LCB)

As one of the senior players in the line-up, Pudil has failed to step up and be counted. Hence, the Owls must expect more from him in the coming games.

Liam Palmer (LWB)

Adam Reach is a fresh injury concern for the manager, so Palmer might be deployed at left wing-back.

Joey Pelupessy (LCM)

The midfielder is another inconsistent performer. Luhukay doesn’t have a wide squad to make multiple changes, so he needs to stick with his players and hope that they come good.

Barry Bannan

Barry Bannan (CM)

Bannan has improved this season. He was one of the best Wednesday players on Saturday in a losing cause. He is expected to take up a role in central midfield.

Sam Hutchinson (RCM)

Was taken off at half-time after giving away a penalty on Saturday. But he was good in the game and may get another chance.

Steven Fletcher (ST)

Fletcher returned from injury and may get a start now as Forestieri hasn’t been good so far this season.

Atdhe Nuhiu (ST)

He struggled in a lone striker role on Saturday, however, with Luhukay expected to change his formation to 3-5-2, Nuhiu may enjoy playing with a support striker.
