Luhukay to make 4 changes – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Sheffield Wednesday lineup to face Sheffield United

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday Lineup To Face Sheffield United In EFL Championship

The Owls turn up for the Sheffield derby looking to avoid being beaten twice in a season by their promoted city rivals with the tumultuous nature of their club not helping matters either, going into this one.

Carlos Carvalhal’s departure leaves a big hole in the club but there can be no excuses in a derby, though I’m not certain many Wednesday fans are too confident heading to Bramall Lane given their team’s dreadful latest league showing when losing 3-0 at home to a struggling Burton Albion.

New boss Jos Luhukay may well switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation here, which has been his favoured one in the past, with the Dutchman potentially fielding the following XI:

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

GK – Joe Wildsmith

Unless Westwood is ready to return then Wildsmith may get another outing in what could be a torrid evening.

RB – Jack Hunt

A solid member of this side and one who will have to be at his best to not be pulled out of position by United’s movement.

CB – Frederico Venancio

Wednesday have a less solid look compared to last season and Venancio is a part of that for me. He may not cope with Donaldson and Clarke.

Daniel Pudil

CB – Daniel Pudil

Came off the bench for Loovens last time in the league and may well get the call here. If he gets on top of the United strikers, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

LB – Morgan Fox

If he can get forward and keep Baldock back, then he can say he’s done his bit to get his team on top.

CM – Jacob Butterfield

Possesses quality but is not at his best. He could be a part of a central midfield which is out-battled and outnumbered.

CM – David Jones

Will do his best alongside Butterfield but I don’t fancy his chances against the United three.

RW – Ross Wallace

Wallace’s final ball is quality and up against this back three, it’ll need to be.  Any opportunity to find Rhodes should be taken.

Adam Reach

CAM – Lucas Joao

May join Rhodes up front at some point but otherwise, he could be asked to provide support from a slightly deeper position.

LW – Adam Reach

May do well to get wide when possible and drag Chris Basham out of the line and allow Joao in on goal.

ST – Jordan Rhodes

Continually flattering to deceive; this is a big one as Rhodes could be a hero by netting a winner. However, it’s also players like him who take the flak when things go wrong (which they may here).
