Man City beating Barcelona to land this Bundesliga sensation would sort out their future after Aguero’s decline

Manchester City Opinion: Guardiola should sign Luka Jovic

Manchester City need to start looking for replacements for at least three potential players in the summer. Fernandinho is one, Benjamin Mendy is another and the great Sergio Aguero is the final one.

While Fernandinho’s replacement will be the toughest thing they do in the near future, finding someone for Aguero will be a close second. The Argentine has been perfect for Manchester City since arriving from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 for £38million.

Since then, he’s played well over 300 games, scored over 220 goals and in the process, has become Manchester City’s all-time top scorer. The Argentine has also averaged 20 goals every single season since arriving.

But that’s in all competitions, with Aguero missing the 20-goal mark just twice in the Premier League.

It’s a magnificent total for any striker in the world, but Aguero has also added three league titles, four EFL Cups and two Community Shields over the course of his Manchester City career.

And as mentioned above, replacing him will be the second toughest job Manchester City can do in the next few years, but Luka Jovic is arguably their best option. Italian news outlet Calciomercato has reported that Manchester City have started scouting the young Eintracht Frankfurt striker.

Earlier in February, the Daily Mail reported that Manchester City had entered the race for the 21-year-old. That is no surprise given the sensational season that the Serbian striker has been having on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

So far, he’s managed 25 goals in all competitions and that includes 8 in the Europa League and 17 in the Bundesliga. It also makes him on of Europa League’s top scorers but also just four behind Robert Lewandowski in the league.

It’s a phenomenal rise for the 21-year-old and while he has yet to show a consistent streak of goalscoring at a high level, Jovic is a class act. Often played as a false nine for Frankfurt by manager Adi Hutter and much like Sergio Aguero has, Luka Jovic has flourished there.

Alongside Sebastian Haller, another brilliant player, the youngster has proven to be a brilliant foil. He personifies the modern striker and is exactly what Guardiola needs.

Selfless with the ball and a hard worker without it, the 21-year-old would slot right into Guardiola’s team.

Conclusion

This a move that Man City require and must complete it in the summer. But with Barcelona [Daily Mail (h/t Diario Sport)] also looking for a striker, the Cityzens will have to move quickly.

Because if they miss a move for Jovic, they will regret it and potentially pay for it once Sergio Aguero starts to regress.
