Why Manchester City should make a move for Real Madrid star Isco
According to a recent report from the Express, Premier League champions Manchester City are keeping tabs on Isco’s situation at Real Madrid.
The Spaniard’s future at the Bernabeu is in serious doubt after starting none of Santiago Solari’s first seven games in charge. Isco, 26, has scored just once and provided two assists in 10 La Liga games this season and has fallen out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in recent months.
With Isco struggling for game time at Real Madrid, should Manchester City make a move for the Spaniard?
Manchester City are running riot in the Premier League and given the way they have been performing this season, a second successive Premier League title for Pep Guardiola won’t be a surprise. Manchester City are the champions of England for a reason and although they have blown hot and cold in the Champions League, Guardiola’s side are miles ahead of other Premier League outfits.
The Cityzens have willingly backed Guardiola in the transfer market and the Spanish tactician has spent the money wisely, offloading the deadwood and replacing those players with top talents.
One of City’s longest-serving members is David Silva, who despite turning 32 earlier this year, has not shown any signs of slowing down. But Silva will turn 33 in January 2019 and it would be wise if Guardiola starts plotting potential replacements for the Spanish magician.
That’s where signing Isco would make sense for Manchester City. Regarded as one of the best playmakers in world football, Isco would undoubtedly bolster City’s squad. The Spaniard will be able to help City in the creativity department and his introduction will take some weight off Kevin De Bruyne’s shoulders, who is currently out injured.
He has superb ball control which allows him to dribble past defenders with ease even in tightest of areas. The 26-year-old is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the front-line. This makes him a perfect player for a 4-3-3 system with freedom to the forward players, which is currently deployed at City.
Isco has an eye for a pass and possesses impressive distribution skills and close control that will certainly prove to be useful while going forward. With excellent vision and creativity, the Spanish international can split open the opposition and send City’s attackers through on goal.
At 26, Isco will enter the peak years of his career; so, City would obviously benefit from having such a gifted playmaker in their ranks. However, Isco has a sky-high release clause of £620million, which is simply ridiculous and no club will certainly be able to shell out that much money.

That said, Real Madrid will have to reduce the asking price if they are to offload an unhappy player from the squad.
