Why Manchester United should beat Arsenal to the signing of Ismaila Sarr
Manchester United have not made the best of starts to their season. The Red Devils have looked lacklustre in the first few weeks of the season and have picked up a total of 10 points from their opening 7 games, which includes three losses as well. Jose Mourinho’s men have struggled to threaten in the final third after acquiring the likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez in the last few years.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are interested in making a move for Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr. The Senegalese youngster has made a name for himself after impressing for both club and country over the last year.
Sarr played a huge role for Senegal in the World Cup as well and was shortlisted for the Golden Boy award, although that ultimately went to Kylian Mbappe. Manchester United have looked blank going forward and would definitely need more firepower with Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba all showing inconsistency in front of the goal.
They lack potency in the final third, and that’s exactly why Jose Mourinho should make the move for Ismaila Sarr. Though he has been linked with the Gunners, Mourinho should aim to hijack the move and snap up the player. It wouldn’t be the first time the Red Devils do something similar.
Sarr is just 20 years old and is a versatile attacker who is capable of functioning in a number of systems and roles. He is generally fielded as a right-winger but he can also be deployed on the left flank. The Senegalese international is also comfortable playing as a lone forward.
With Anthony Martial not firing either, Manchester United need to bring in another winger. Rennes currently rate Sarr at £20million, which shouldn’t be a huge problem for the Manchester club given their financial power.
Sarr is one of the most sought-after youngsters in the world and is surely destined for greatness. Jose Mourinho should definitely make the move ahead of the Gunners and bring him to Old Trafford. Sarr will provide them with the cutting edge and intensity they need in the final third. The youngster will also provide Mourinho with a number of healthy options.
