Man United completing this £40m deal ahead of Tottenham would be nothing short of brilliance from the Red Devils

Why signing David Brooks would be a huge boost for Man United’s top-4 hopes

According to Wales Online, Manchester United are keen on David Brooks and are looking to bring him to Old Trafford in January for £40m. Manchester United have been in excellent form over the last many games.

They have won 6 games on the trot under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which was topped off with a brilliant tactical masterclass which saw United beat 3rd-placed Tottenham by 1-0 margin at The Wembley stadium.

This was United’s first win against a top 6 side this season, which has triggered positive vibes at Old Trafford after suffering under Jose Mourinho’s defensive tactics for a long time. While they didn’t play expansive attacking football, Solskjaer has set his team up to counter-attack and boy are they not doing it well.

While they look like a pretty solid team on paper, Jesse Lingard isn’t the kind of player you’d want on the wing against bigger teams like Manchester City or Liverpool.

He would get overrun due to his lack of pace and his attacking duties would end up diluting his defensive work rate. A new player who is capable of playing the wide role and also the number 10 role would be an ideal signing for United in January.

They have been linked with a move for Bournemouth attacker David Brooks, who has been in blistering form so far this season. Having joined Eddie Howe’s men at the start of the campaign, from Sheffield United, Brooks has already made 20 appearances for the Cherries this season and has scored 5 goals.

His performances have been extremely inspiring, which is probably why a club of Manchester United’s magnitude want the player. While the Daily Mail suggests that Tottenham are also keen, United will do a good job to bring the Welshman to Manchester because he has an extremely bright future in the English top-flight.
