Man United signing this Ligue 1 powerhouse to replace Herrera would turn them into a world-class team

Manchester United opinion: Red Devils want Ndombele – Good choice?

For all their issues this season, Manchester United still have a relatively decent core group of players around which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can build around. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and even Luke Shaw will all prove to be a big part of his side.

However, of all the mentioned players, only Pogba’s future is uncertain. The Frenchman after a rather hot and cold season still managed to contribute towards 27 goals in all competitions, with 22 in the Premier League alone.

That is his best goalscoring and assist return ever but it also saw the 26-year-old struggle for parts of the season. It’s a shocking spell, which played an immense part in both Jose Mourinho’s downfall and Manchester United not playing Champions League football.

But what is even more surprising is the fact that everything changed once Pogba revealed that he would be interested if Real Madrid ever came. That effectively saw the Solskjaer honeymoon phase come to an end and the club went into freefall.

It’s why with the summer window officially open, the Red Devils have to target reinforcements. One man who should be at the top of their list is Tanguy Ndombele and the Manchester Evening News has reported that the club is in the race.

With Manchester City targeting Rodri and Barcelona buying Frenkie De Jong, it leaves the door open for the Red Devils to make their move. And with them losing Ander Herrera, they need a new midfield general.

The 22-year-old Lyon star has been a key part of the team this season and his form has shown itself in the toughest of situations for the Ligue 1 side.

Arguably one of their most important players, Ndombele has played nearly every game of the season, missing just four games. An all-action star, Ndombele combines the best of his defensive and offensive duties.

Add to that his boundless energy and positional sense, any team that does sign him gets a world-class star. That is with the added potential to grow even further.
