Man Utd signing this 16-year-old wonder kid would massively bolster their youth ranks to support Solskjaer’s vision

Man Utd Opinion: United should add more promising talents like Florent Da Silva

According to a report from Daily Express, Manchester United are close to signing Lyon prospect Florent Da Silva, which would be their third signing of this transfer window.

The report also adds that Silva is keen on the Old Trafford move amidst the reluctance from the French outfit. (h/t Daily Express)

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Having been an academy product of Lyon for a long-time, Silva broke into the reserves team last season, playing in France’s fourth division. His contribution remained productive, as Lyon edged out Marseille and Monaco and finished 12th on the table.

Silva has represented Les Gone’s U19 set-up twice in last season’s UEFA Youth League, where they lost to Barcelona 3-2 in the semi-finals. He has also earned 2 caps for France’s U16 team, scoring 2 goals.

He is an attacking midfielder by trade and highly known for his playmaking skills.

Man Utd should reinforce their youth ranks

The Red Devils’ approach towards youngsters has been intense in recent times, especially after the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who made two prolific signings namely Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the current transfer window.

As far as the United’s reserves side is concerned, youngsters, including the likes of Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong, have already seen their light of the day in the main team towards the end of the previous campaign. Before that, Scott McTominay was brought into the spotlight by then-manager Jose Mourinho.

Lyon prospect Silva can be next on the list, as he is loaded with immense talent and a move to Old Trafford would be the first big step in his career.

United have produced Jesse Lingard, who is a top-class playmaker, from their youth ranks in the past and Silva could soon get his limelight.

Final Verdict

The Norwegian manager’s preference towards the young talents has been the main highlight of his managerial stint so far and it should continue with signings like Silva, who will be of greater use in the future.
