Fantastic Aguero – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester City Players In The Game Against West Brom

Full Time: Manchester City 3-1 West Bromwich Albion

Manchester City are continuing on their merry way as they managed to put in yet another commanding performance, this time against the Baggies to take all three points from this mid-week game to get closer to the Champions Leauge next season. Pep Guardiola will be happy with the way things are going as his mainstays Gabriel Jesus, Kevin de Bruyne, and Yaya Toure were all on the scoresheet on the night.

This win takes City to 3rd place, 4 points away from Arsenal, almost securing them a place in the top-4. Liverpool and Arsenal will now fight for the remaining position in the elite competition unless the Citizens lose their final league game by a big margin, and Arsenal and Liverpool win their respective games.

Player Ratings – Manchester City

Willy Caballero (6)

Hardly had a save to make as he was mostly used to just pass the ball around on a comfortable night for City.

Fernandinho (7)

Played as a full-back to decent effect at the start of the game and slotted into the midfield with ease when Zabaleta was brought on.

Vincent Kompany (7)

Picked up a slight knock that looked worrying but put in a solid performance that helped his side to a clean sheet on the night.

Nicolas Otamendi (7)

With Kompany doing the dirty work, Otamendi only had to keep the ball running and snuffing out counter attack situations early in the bud.

Aleksandar Kolarov (8)

Did extremely well to help add width to City’s attack but needs to work on his set piece delivery.

Yaya Toure (8)

Performed at his best in what could be his last appearance at the Etihad. Created a number of other chances that could have easily been put away.

Kevin de Bruyne (8)

The ball to give Gabriel Jesus his goal was just exemplary and that set the tone for the rest of the game for De Bruyne, who bossed it.

David Silva (7)

Did nothing extraordinary but stuck to his task, helping City break down a rigid West Brom defence on the night.

Gabriel Jesus (8)

Was a sparkling outlet in attack for Manchester city where he managed to find the back of the net for the 6th time in the last 8 games.

Sergio Aguero (9)

Showed that he can play alongside Gabriel with ease, as he played a role in each of City’s goals. He could have scored more than a couple himself on a productive night for the Argentine.

Subs:

Pablo Zabaleta (9)

Came on with just half an hour to play and boy did he not put on a show. Manchester City could have been 5-up had he started the game from minute one.

John Stones (7)

Replaced Kompany with around 10 minutes to go and did well to keep West Brom away.

Fernando (7)

Came into the midfield to strengthen things up for Man City. Did his job well.
