According to reports from English news outlet the Leicester Mercury, Manchester City have entered the race for yet another Leicester City star. The Cityzens are looking for a brand new right-back and believe that Ricardo Pereira is just their man.

However, the report adds that while Joao Cancelo is their top choice, the club have started creating a list of alternatives.

That is despite the fact that the 25-year-old only arrived from FC Porto last summer for a fee of around €25million. But since then, Ricardo Pereira has been absolutely perfect for Leicester City, doing an outstanding job in his debut season.

Not only did he miss just three games in the Premier League but he also added two goals and created 7 assists in the English top-tier. He’s been arguably one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold.

A modern full-back, by all means, the Portuguese arrived at Nice as a defensive full-back and filled the void that the Ligue 1 side needed and looking like their very best player.

It was only with time that the 25-year-old developed his attacking boots, growing season by season.

In his final term at FC Porto, he finished the season with seven goal contributions only to increase that even further at Leicester City. One of his biggest strengths is his incredible athleticism, which will be required at Manchester City.

They do have Kyle Walker but that shouldn’t come in the way of a move for Pereira. The Portuguese is a very versatile player, capable of playing as a left-back, right-back, wing-back on either side and even as a winger.

He’s had an outstanding season and it’s one of the many reasons why the move is perfect for City. The 25-year-old should be able to take over from even Kyle Walker.
