Manchester City and their perfect teams of robots have managed to win nearly everything. They’ve dominated England for two consecutive seasons, finally won the first men’s domestic treble and a few other trophies along the way.

But despite all that success, Manchester City still feels a little empty as they lack one major trophy. That is, of course, the Champions League crown, which is something that Manchester City have failed to even come close to in recent seasons.

Since appointing Pep Guardiola, the Cityzens have not only struggled to make a semi-final berth but they haven’t been able to get out.

For the last few years, the farthest the club has managed to reach was the quarter-final stages. Last season they lost to Liverpool and this season it was Tottenham who outdid them.

Things need to change. Guardiola needs to prove that he doesn’t depend on one Argentine superstar. Because the last time a Guardiola side won the Champions League, they had Lionel Messi and it was all the way back in the 2009/10 season.

Since then, the Spaniard has managed to reach the semi-finals thrice, the quarter-finals twice and been knocked out in the last 16 once. With Manchester City, as mentioned above, the farthest he has reached has been the quarter-finals.

Something is missing and it’s time the club changes that this season. The summer window is wide open and making additions is easier said than done. It has to be the right players in the right areas and one man who does fit that bill is Joao Cancelo

However, while he did only arrive last summer, the report further adds that the Old Lady are looking for replacements.

It allows the Cityzens to make a move and this is a move that they have to make. The perfect full-back if there ever was, the 25-year-old is at the peak of his powers. It’s why a move makes a lot of sense and he’ll simply become even better under Guardiola.

His versatility will prove to be a big bonus for Manchester City, which is why they need to win the race.
