Manchester City vs Chelsea prediction: Manchester City line-up

Manchester City will be looking to overcome their loss against Liverpool that happened before the international break. They sit in a lowly fourth place by their standards and cannot afford any more defeats if they are to match the pace of Klopp’s team.

Chelsea’s young squad are flying high with confidence and going to Etihad this Saturday, they would look to extend their lead on the champions. Chelsea are currently one point ahead of City and this fixture would be crucial for both sides.

However, Pep’s side will have to be more clinical and get the job done if they are to challenge for the title.  This will be a much-needed win for City to regain confidence in the long run.

Team News

Bernardo Silva is suspended and he would not be able to take part in the game. Laporte and Sane are long-time casualties, while Oleksandr Zinchenko will be out due to knee surgery.

Probable Manchester City XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Ederson (GK)

He is expected to return from the injury that saw him out of the Liverpool game. Ederson is likely to start ahead of Claudio Bravo.

Kyle Walker (RB)

Walker has started almost every game for his side. He is a sure starter as he has been City’s key member and also helps with his forward runs.

Fernandinho (CB)

With Laporte out injured and Otamendi out of form, the Brazilian would be a starter in this position, as he is their first-choice centre-back at the moment.

John Stones (CB)

Stones completed his quota of 90 minutes against Liverpool and with limited options available, he would be a sure pick to lead the defence.

Benjamin Mendy (LB)

Since his return from injury, Mendy has been really good for the team. The Frenchman should start ahead of Angelino.

David Silva (LCM)

The Spaniard has been a mainstay for City and his experience would be helpful for clashes against big teams. He should start ahead of Gundogan after being benched against Liverpool.

Rodri (CDM)

He has been in excellent form since his move from Atletico Madrid and has firmly claimed the spot for himself. He is an undoubted starter.

Kevin De Bruyne (RCM)

He has been City’s most impressive players and he would be the key to break Chelsea’s defence given his ability and vision to find his teammates with ease. Guardiola would be expecting him to put up a bright display.

Riyad Mahrez (RW)

Following Bernardo Silva’s suspension, Pep’s only option for the right flank is Mahrez. He would be looking to make the utmost use of his limited chances.
