According to Portuguese source OJogo, Premier league leaders Manchester United are on a verge of finishing a deal to sign Argentine centre-back Ezequiel Garay in next few weeks.
Manchester United scouts have been watching the Benfica defender for a long time now and they believe Garay will add much needed depth and solidness to the Manchester United defense.
Sir Alex Ferguson has sent his own brother Martin to scout the former Real Madrid man in recent weeks and it is believed that negotiations have already began between the two parties.
Ezequiel Garay’s playing style is very similar to United captain Nemanja Vidic and with Rio Ferdinand nearing retirement, there could be two Vidic(s) playing for the red devils soon.
Ferguson’s defence struggled somewhat in the earlier part of the season mainly due to the injuries to key players and also the mistakes on the pitch. So the fans will welcome this signing.
Garay is currently on a rock solid form as his team has conceded just 14 goals in 22 league games this term.
