Five players who could be sold by new Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal

Louis Van Gaal

A new era is set to usher at Old Trafford after Louis Van Gaal was officially presented to the media at Old Trafford. The legendary Dutch manager threw down the gauntlet to his players in the very first interaction and his impeccable style has perhaps already inculcated what he demands from the squad. Van Gaal maintained it was a challenge to win the Premier League title, but given a manager of his pedigree, it won’t be surprising if the former Ajax and Barcelona manager wields his magic in his first season. While United have already conducted business in the summer transfer window, we present a list of five players whose career might be over at Old Trafford.

Javier Hernandez:

The Mexican has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford despite making a name for himself as an impact substitute. The 26 year old isn’t expected to feature much under Van Gaal and might be tempted to head towards the exit of Old Trafford to secure a regular starting place. According to reports in Sportsmediaset, Inter Milan are looking to revive their interest in the “Little Pea.” The San Siro outfit were willing to offer Hernandez a contract in January, however talks broke down due to unknown reasons.

The Nerazzurri however, want to bring the player to bolster their attacking options as they look to mount a serious Serie A title challenge. Chicarito has also been left out of the 25-man Manchester United squad for the pre-season tour to USA by Van Gaal.

Anderson:

Another player who faces the cut for the Red Devils squad is the Brazilian midfielder who was on a six month loan spell to Italian side Fiorentina. The 26 year old featured in a handful of matches but failed to impress the Viola and was sent back to United at the end of the season. Anderson’s style is surely not to fit in Van Gaal’s tactical approach, which needs players with immense stamina and being capable of playing in a variety of positions. Anderson has already been dropped from United’s tour to USA by Van Gaal which in hindsight points only to the exit signboard at Old Trafford for the player.
