Why Manchester United Should Not Let West Ham Anywhere Near Their Star Duo In January

Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United were back to winning ways at the weekend as they managed to get a 1-0 victory over struggling Hull City at home. That victory has taken them close to the top half of the table but West Ham are still just 5 points off the drop zone and the manager will know that he cannot allow any more complacency if they are to keep their top flight status intact for another year. The club was hit by injuries at the start of the season but the manager is slowly getting his star players back into the squad, giving him more options in crunch games.

But though Bilic has tried a few combinations early this season, he has not been able to settle into one formula that can win him games on a consistent basis and this has seen him monitor the status of some of the best players in the league for a move in January. After Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool and Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea, West Ham are now eyeing a loan deal for Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. Though Bilic may yet be able to lure the Chelsea man, here is why Manchester United are never going to let a deal like this happen.

The French international Marital, who has not started the season in good form, has now established himself in the starting XI, putting in some impressive performances coming back from injury. Marcus Rashford, arguably the most exciting youngster in England at the moment, is also an integral part of the plans of the manager at Old Trafford and has made a superb start to the current season. Jose Mourinho has used the duo on the left side of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has lead the attack of the side and both players have been impressive in their own terms.

West Ham would argue that either of the player who would move to the club would play more top flight football than at Manchester United but with the Red Devils also competing in the Europa League, it would be stupid for them to let any of the two go in January. At the moment, star players in the squad are getting back to form and are helping the side to some impressive performances and the manager should make sure that he does not change too much in January.

Mourinho is planning to let few players leave in January and might also add a few. But irrespective of the additions, Martial and Rashford are the players fighting for the position on the left and Manchester United would do well to keep up the competition which will help them improve as players. Both players are at the beginning of their careers and loan deals that can give them regular football are invaluable. But Rashford and Martial will get their chances to impress, in cup competitions or in the league, which can act as a way back into the first team in the league. Surely, Mourinho should keep the duo at Old Trafford and not have any second thoughts in rejecting any proposals from West Ham.
