Manchester United: Signing Yohan Cabaye Could Only Strengthen Their Midfield

One of the main agenda for Manchester United in the transfer season is to improve on their central midfield which is one of the weakest links in the club. As a United fan you would hope, Moyes and co might have already identified a few players who can cater to their central midfield needs. But in reality, although the transfer season is still fresh as Chicharito’s charming face, gradually United are understanding that their targets are not easy to acquire with rival clubs vying for their signature as well.

While Fellaini has also been targeted by Chelsea and Arsenal, Fabregas may not be very keen to join the Red Devils for his Arsenal connection. On the other hand, Kevin Strootman is a very decent player for his age but Moyes believes he lacks the requisite experience to be part of such a high profile team on a regular basis.

Under these circumstances, Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye is definitely being monitored by United and the club is considering making a bid for the French player.

Even Cabaye is not opposed to a move to United and he recently stated:

“They are always well placed amongst the big clubs, yes for sure it could be an interesting challenge but like I said for the moment, there is nothing concrete and I am still at Newcastle.”

The Guardian have reported that the Red Devils would be interested in the French-man which obviously is a good sign, although there has not been any open statement from the club.

Cabaye is an integral part of the Newcastle midfield and has been the biggest asset for the club in the past two seasons. He came to the limelight in very much his first season in English football scoring six goals and making four assists. Although his form dropped a bit this season with injury setbacks, the midfielder still remains a primary threat to the opposition with his techniques and finishing skills.

Cabaye is very much of a player who controls the proceedings from the central midfield and his passing percentage of 80% speaks of that fact. In a team as talented as United, Cabaye could be very effective players and his partnerships with Van Persie and Kagawa would be thing to look out for.

Cabaye should not cost United too much money and they will have the option to save the money to address other positions in the team.
