Mexes Does A Zlatan For AC Milan

Philippe Mexes scored an incredible over head kick which Zlatan Imbrahimovic himself would have been proud of. Just after one week after the Swede’s amazing goal, the French man betters it.

AC Milan met Anderlecht in the Champions league group stage needing all three points to book their place in the last 16. And when AC Milan were leading 1-0 through El Shaarawy’s second half goal and were desperately looking to finish off the game when Bram Nuytinck received a straight red card for a last-man foul on Pato.

Montolivo took the resulting free kick which was chested beautifully by Mexes but the French man was facing the wrong side of the goal, however he produced a stunning bicycle kick from the edge of the box which flew into the top corner past helpless Anderlecht stopper Silvio Proto.

Talking to the press after the game, Mexes said:

“Nothing went through my mind,” Mexes said. “I gave it a go, it went well but I will admit it was a bit lucky. Ibra is a phenomenon but for a defender to score a goal like that is unusual and I’d never got one like that before. My team-mates asked if I was trying to provide a cross and got it wrong!”

“I dedicate it to my family who have always supported me and my children, as it isn’t easy for them to stay home with their Dad always travelling around.”
