Mkhitaryan to start, Lacazette on the bench: Probable 4-3-2-1 Arsenal line-up to face Burnley

Predicted Arsenal Line-up To Face Burnley In The Premier League

The heartbreak at Wanda Metropolitano knocked Arsenal out from the Europa League semi-final as they failed to break down a resilient Atletico Madrid defence. The Gunners also failed to cancel out Diego Costa’s late first-half strike. Arsene Wenger’s men, therefore, will not be in the Champions League next season and the desire of clinching one last title under the iconic manager remains undone.

They will now be hosting Burnley on Sunday evening at Emirates for the last time under Wenger and they must make the occasion special by winning the fixture. In doing so, the club will truly reward a fitting tribute at home to the greatest ever manager in their history.

Team News

Mohamed Elneny is already ruled out for the rest of the season but is likely to be available with Egypt for the World Cup. Skipper Laurent Koscielny’s unfortunate Achilles tendon injury on Thursday has not only ended his season but will also prevent him from playing for Frane. Santi Cazorla is back and running again but is unlikely to be involved in the remaining fixtures.

Formation: 4-3-2-1

Wenger has experimented with team formations and altered them pretty frequently in recent months. He might prefer a setup of 4-3-2-1 against the Clarets and make a few changes to the squad that suffered a defeat against Rojiblancos.

Manager: Arsene Wenger

Petr Cech (GK)

The veteran custodian has not featured in recent fixtures but might be recalled to action on Sunday evening in place of David Ospina.

Petr Cech

Hector Bellerin (RB)

Bellerin endured a disappointing outcome against Atletico Madrid but he must improve his game versus Burnley in order to help Arsenal grab a sixth-placed finish ahead of Sean Dyche’s men.

Shkodran Mustafi (CB)

Has taken a central stage in the Arsenal backline and must deal with Burnley’s aerial game inside the box with crosses from the flanks and long-ball tactics.

Konstantinos Mavropanos (CB)

The Greek youngster delivered a lion-hearted display in his debut last week against Manchester United which might hand him a start this weekend as well.

Sead Kolasinac (LB)

Has mostly been playing second-fiddle to Nacho Monreal but the Bosnian must improve his defensive work-rate to strengthen his first-team status from next season onwards.

Granit Xhaka (CDM)

Has mostly been a disappointment since his big money transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach and it is high time the Swiss international improves his game to avoid a dismissal next term.

Aaron Ramsey (RCM)

The Welshman has performed persistently in the middle of the park and the Gunners must keep hold of him and rebuild the squad for the upcoming season.

Jack Wilshere (LCM)

There is quandary over his Arsenal future but the Englishman has utilized his opportunities well and he must complete the season on a high to earn a new contract.

Jack Wilshere

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (RW)

The winter recruit from Manchester United made an instant impact in Gunners’ colours and has now recovered from his injury to start once more.

Danny Welbeck (LW)

Has not impressed in a No.9 role but he did uplift his game from the left flank and secure a starting slot in Wenger’s squad.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ST)

Had a prolific scoring record for Borussia Dortmund prior to a club-record winter move to North London. The Gabonese sensation has arguably continued his excellence in front of the goal and the supporters will be demanding more from next term onwards.
