Morelos and Murphy to start – Strongest 4-1-4-1 Rangers XI to face FK Shkupi

Predicted 4-1-4-1 Rangers lineup to face FK Shkupi

Rangers will clash against Macedonian outfit FK Shkupi on Tuesday, as they look to make it to the next round of the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.

The Light Blues, under the new managerial regime of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, beat their Tuesday’s opponents 2-0 this past Thursday, courtesy of goals from Jamie Murphy and captain James Tavernier. And the manager will be hoping that his side gets the job done on its midweek trip to Skopje.

Here’s how the Gers might set themselves up against the Macedonian outfit.

Probable Celtic XI

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Allan McGregor (GK)

The 36-year-old has been preferred between the sticks since his summer return to Rangers. Should start again on Tuesday.

James Tavernier (RB)

The newly-appointed club captain led the way with an admirable performance in the first leg last week. And he will be hoping to put in another strong display in Macedonia.

Connor Goldson (CB)

The summer signing from Brighton & Hove Albion had a good outing last time out. Will look to build upon it, as he looks to establish himself as a mainstay at his new club.

Connor Goldson

Nikola Katic (CB)

The 21-year-old Croatian defender too looked solid on his competitive debut for the Gers last week. His partnership with Goldson will be key for the club this season.

Jon Flanagan (LB)

Gerrard’s former teammate at Liverpool, Flanagan had a solid outing against Shkupi in the first leg and is likely to continue at left-back ahead of Declan John.

Ross McCrorie (DM)

The Scottish youngster has been Gerrard’s preferred choice as the holding midfielder. And that is unlikely to change here.

Josh Windass (RW)

The former Accrington Stanley man has found himself on the right-hand side in the past couple of games, where he has looked lively. Strong likelihood that he will continue there.

Ryan Jack (CM)

After Daniel Candeias’ disappointing performance in an unnatural central midfield role in the first leg, Gerrard should resort to a more conventional option in Ryan Jack.

Ovie Ejaria (CM)

With Scott Arfield injured and not travelling with the squad to Macedonia, the young Liverpool loanee, who made a substitute appearance in the first leg, could be set for a start on Tuesday.

Jamie Murphy (LW)

The former Brighton winger has continued from where he left off last season, having made his move to Rangers a permanent one this summer. Scored in the first leg and will be keen on repeating his heroics on Tuesday.

Alfredo Morelos (ST)

The Colombian forward remains Gerrard’s best option in the lone striker role, given that Umar Sadiq only joined on loan from AS Roma very recently. Should start this midweek.
