Morelos And Windass To Start – Stronest 4-4-1-1 Rangers Line-up To Face St. Johnstone

James Tavernier

Predicted Rangers Line-up To Face St. Johnstone In The Scottish Premiership

Rangers’ form is so hit and miss this season and it’s led essentially to them being no further ahead than what they were last term, despite the huge changes in the squad. That said, with so many new people at the club, we can only assume they will improve as time goes on.

They play away at St. Johnstone in a Friday night game this week, looking to complement an excellent 4-1 victory on the road last time.

It will not be easy in Perth, and the following XI may be deployed by Rangers’ Portuguese gaffer:

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Pedro Caixinha

GK – Wes Foderingham

Rangers ultimately need a proper ‘keeper if they are to get back into Europe and stay there. For now though, Foderingham is racking up the appearances at Rangers and should add another one on Friday night.

RB – James Tavnernier

Tav could be finding his best form again going forward, though one of the club’s problems in the early part of this season is how open they leave themselves when the full-backs go up the pitch. This will not be lost on St Johnstone.

James Tavernier

CB – Fabio Cardoso

Had formed a good partnership with Bruno Alves before the game at Hamilton, who should return to partner him here.

CB – Bruno Alves

The popular Portuguese international brings a calming influence to the side and would be welcomed back with open arms.

LB – Declan John

Looks a bit of a find at left-back and should replace the injured Lee Wallace, perhaps even improving the position with his presence.

Daniel Candeias

RW – Daniel Candeias

There has been a return in recent times, for more old fashioned wingers, i.e. right-footed players who prefer to play on the right side and take a man on. Candeias is such a figure and should start here.

CM – Jason Holt

Ryan Jack will miss out here so Holt can step in and keep the balance with Dorrans.

CM – Graham Dorrans

The former Norwich man has shown his quality in this league and remains one of the better players in this squad.

Graham Dorrans

LW – Josh Windass

Really coming into his own now, Windass is dangerous when cutting in centrally and possesses a real goal threat from this sort of position.

SS – Carlos Pena

Loves to get forward from midfield and so he really suits this position; a midfielder when the opposition have the ball and a number ten when they don’t.

ST – Alfredo Morelos

The young player has definitely won the battle to start up front in this team, 6 goals in 8 games is a testament to his ability.
