Manchester United managed to put the Stamford Bridge humiliation behind them this week as they knocked Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City out of the League Cup on Wednesday. They will face West Ham in the quarter-final and Mourinho will now have to concentrate on their next Premier League game against Burnley. The Red Devils have just 14 points from their first 9 games and will need to start showing some consistency to keep their place at the top of the table. However, Sean Dyche’s side have been hard to beat this season and will surely put up a fight at Old Trafford.

Here is the predicted lineup that Jose Mourinho might field for this game:

Team News:

Manchester United will be without the services of Wayne Rooney, Eric Bailly – who is ruled out for a couple of months – and Phil Jones, who is nursing an injury. Chris Smalling should be back in action after missing out on the League Cup game while Marcus Rashford, who sustained an injury late in the Manchester derby is also expected to make it into this squad. Furthermore,  Marouane Fellaini is a doubt and will be assessed closer to kick-off.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David de Gea:

The Spaniard could not do much to keep Chelsea out last weekend but will hope to have a better time at home this weekend.

Antonio Valencia:

A decent performance in the mid-week where he helped United to a victory should see Valencia keep his place in the side for this game.

Chris Smalling:

Having missed the League Cup game against City, Smalling is back fit and will take his place in the center of the defense for United this weekend.

Daley Blind:

The Dutch international has been impressive recently and was solid at the back in the League Cup victory. He should be alongside Smalling for this game against Burnley.

Luke Shaw:

Another player who impressed in the League Cup outing, Shaw should keep his place in the left-back spot to try and prove himself in the league.

Ander Herrera:

Putting in decent performance consistently, Herrera has now become an important player for the club and should start this game against Burnley.

Morgan Schneiderlin:

The French international was brought late on to the field to replace the goal-scorer Juan Mata – during the EFL tie – and he could be poised to make his first Premier League start this season.

Juan Mata:

The scorer of the winner in the League Cup victory over Manchester City, Mata is currently an in form player for United and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Paul Pogba:

The world record signing is still settling into life at Manchester and this home tie against newly promoted Burnley might be a decent chance for him to find some form.

Marcus Rashford:

Though picked up a slight injury at the end of the League Cup game, Rashford is an important part of this United squad and should start this game against Burnley.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

The Swede had a mixed game against Manchester City but he will be backing himself up to be back on the score-sheet this weekend.
