Why A Move For This Leicester City Star Would Make Arsenal A Formidable Side Next Season (Not Vardy)

Though Arsenal were strong in most departments on the pitch last season, they  lacked consistency, which has been one of the main reasons that cost them the Premier League title, as they once again ended a  season without a trophy. The Gunners have been looking to sign new stars now, in order to change that and will want to get things sorted as soon as possible. Arsene Wenger’s side have not been winning too many titles in recent times, though the two FA Cups would have surely brought some relief.

However, the French manager knows that his side are capable of winning more  trophies, if he can buy the right kind of players, this summer.

One player who helped his side achieve the impossible last season was Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, who guided the Foxes to a Premier League title win.

Now, in recent times the 25 year old Algerian international has been linked with a move to the Emirates, with Wenger looking keen to add him to his squad as well.

The French manager is looking to strengthen his team by adding more attacking options, as the lack of goals in the previous campaign, during the business end of the season, saw them barely finish at second spot on the points table. Leicester were crowned champions, while Spurs finished third and Manchester City fourth.

The north London giants will surely not want to repeat that and want to be serious contenders this time, which is why they will want to sign the winger in the upcoming days.

Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez made 37 appearances last term for Claudio Ranieri’s side, scoring 18 goals and claiming 11 assists. He joined the club in 2014 and has since then made 86 appearances, scoring 24 times.

The player is a high quality star and has great dribbling skills and played some beautiful through balls for his team-mates which led to goal scoring opportunities. He is a total-team player, as his 11 assists from last season would suggest.

Further, other positives about his overall play include his ability to take long shots and score goals. The star is also really good at putting in crosses, which makes him even more effective.

His fitness level is really good, as he started most games last season and was not really an absentee from the first team for too long, playing almost every minute of football possible for his team.

A brilliant player no doubt, who still has a lot of years ahead of him. This could be one more big reason that Wenger would want to add him to his squad, as the French boss is known to be a long-term planner. Whether Mahrez moves to the Emirates or not is another thing, though a deal would surely benefit the club in a big way!!
