Neil Lennon can stamp his mark on this Celtic side by signing this out of favour Arsenal star – opinion

Celtic FC opinion: The Hoops should sign Carl Jenkinson

Carl Jenkinson has been linked with a move to Celtic, according to reports in the Birmingham live. The Arsenal right-back has been on the periphery for the last couple of years with loan moves to West Ham and Birmingham City. Neither of the loan moves have worked in favour of the Englishman.

The Englishman is a defender who will do a job in any position with his attributes but is mostly used as a right-back. Jenkinson has made 41 appearances for the Gunners and Celtic could use some of his experience playing at the very top to help them in their quest for European football and continue their dominance in the Scottish Premier League.

Celtic won yet another trouble after Brendan Rodgers left during the season. Rodgers was very successful during his time but there wasn’t more he could do to improve the Celts’ fortunes.

Neil Lennon was appointed as caretaker manager and after steadying the ship was appointed the full-time manager. This will be Lennon’s second stint as the manager of Celtic.

Neil Lennon will be hoping to shape a team to his liking and Jenkinson would definitely help elevate Celtic to a higher level. Celtic can’t take it easy with a very determined Rangers under Steven Gerrard hoping to knock them off their perch.

Jenkinson’s experiences in the Premier League will add new life into the club and there’s nothing better than having fresh faces in the team to bolster the mood within a squad that is fairly dominant. It will help get rid of the complacency and push Celtic to even further heights.

This is a move that Carl Jenkinson needs as he isn’t getting the playing time elsewhere. It just wasn’t to be at Arsenal or at West Ham and Birmingham. Celtic might help reignite his career once again.

Scotland has been a great place for reviving the careers of players who might not have had the time of day in a league as competitive as the Premier League.

Conclusion

The Park Head fans will definitely warm down to him. Celtic can head into another season with a lot to look forward to if they get this deal over the line. Jenkinson is of a good age at 27. He still has his best years ahead of him and could see off the rest of his career at Park Head if this move becomes a success.
