Newcastle must complete this game-changing signing of £18m-rated Serie A star before transfer deadline

Why Newcastle United will be an ideal destination for Stefano Sturaro

According to Daily Mail, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Leicester City are in negotiations with Juventus over the signing of midfielder Stefano Sturaro. The Italian champions are set to offload the player in a bid to try and balance the cheque-books after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Old Lady have put up a price tag of around £18m for the 25-year-old. Out of the three Premier League clubs on the negotiation table, Newcastle seem to be the ones in need of Sturaro at this point in time.

Here’s why the north-east club will be an ideal destination for the Italian midfielder in search of game time:

Managerial attraction – Rafa Benitez

We all know what Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has done with the club. The Spaniard performed a mere miracle to get the Magpies back into the Premier League, and then lead them to a top-half finish in English top-flight. He has done all this with a negligible net spend and a lesser quality squad (with all due respect).

Benitez is one of the best man-managers of this generation, as he tends to bring the best out of players during tough situations. He has won European titles with Liverpool and possesses the experience and know-how of handling pressure circumstances.

Stefano Sturaro

Hence, a player like Sturaro, who is short on game time, having taken part in only 12 league appearances last season, would love to work with a manager like Benitez. The Italian would know that if he joins Newcastle, getting regular game time will be guaranteed because of the qualities he possesses.

Benitez has a good history of rejuvenating careers of players who require an opportunity to shine. And moreover, Sturaro is a kind of player who can fit into the structural footballing system of the manager.

Verdict

It will be a good move for all parties involved. The Italian will get his chance to showcase his potential and Newcastle will get a quality player who can be the difference-maker the club has been craving for.
