Newcastle letting go of their influential 25-year-old would be nothing short of a transfer disaster

Newcastle United opinion: The Magpies shouldn’t let Ayoze Perez leave

It seems that with the departure of Rafael Benitez confirmed, Newcastle United’s troubles are far from over. The Spaniard’s departure has unleashed a series of dominoes, one which could see Ayoze Perez leave the club.

That is according to reports from the Independent, revealing that the Spaniard is considering a move away. The likes of Napoli and even Tottenham (Sun) have shown an interest in the past and now it seems that the Spaniard is keen on going back to Spain.

The 25-year old’s current deal expires in the summer of 2021 and it seems that letting Benitez go could see Perez go.

However, given that the Magpies finished 13th in the Premier League after initially struggling, they need to keep Perez. The Magpies flirted with relegation for most of the season before that but managed to go on a great run of form.

Not just that, they’ve also managed to consistently find the net. That goes down to the form of both Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez, with the two combining incredibly well. Together, the two have combined to score 25 goals this season, creating eleven more which shows how much the club depends on them.

While Perez does have a lot to improve upon, he’s finally managed to show why the club bought him in the first place. The Spaniard had become a consistent presence under Benitez and is easily one of the first names on his teamsheet.

Miguel Almiron’s arrival in January changed everything for the Perez because it seemed that all Ayoze Perez required was a creative partner to help him out and ease the burdens on his shoulders. The 25-year-old has struggled when the pressure was solely on his shoulders.

With Almiron there to shoulder some of that burden, Perez finally got to flourish. It’s one of the many reasons that the Magpies actually managed to survive, with Perez netting six goals in his final five Premier League games.

That showcases just how crucial the 25-year-old is to Newcastle’s hopes of surviving the Premier League in the near future.

Conclusion

Ayoze Perez may not be the greatest player ever but the 25-year-old has proven to be a rather astute move by Rafael Benitez. With the Spaniard gone, the other Spaniard has hit his stride in the Premier League at just the right time, as his stock will never be higher.

That’s exactly why Newcastle United shouldn’t be considering any moves and start building the team around the 25-year-old.
