Newcastle United opinion: Newcastle United should reignite a move for Ryan Fraser
Newcastle United may have lost Rafael Benitez but that hasn’t changed the course of the transfer rumours. They need to inspire the Toon Army for the upcoming season, who will be very unhappy after the news of his departure.
Newcastle have been linked with Allan Saint-Maximin according to the Daily Star, which would be a rather audacious move, but one that if the club does manage to pull off will change the course of their season. However, given just how audacious the move is, the Magpies need other options and adding alternatives is easier said than done.
But for a club like Newcastle United, they do have a few options and it’s exactly why they need to reignite a move for Ryan Fraser. The Scottish winger has been heavily linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium in recent months, and it’s no surprise given his performances.
The 25-year-old contributed to 21 goals in the Premier League and 23 goals in all competitions last season, which is incredible. The report further adds that Arsenal have been linked with a move for Fraser and while the move would be good for the North London side, it’s even better for the Magpies.
The Magpies have missed a direct and speedy presence on their flanks, with Miguel Almiron deputising. While the former Atlanta United star has the ability to play out wide, it’s centrally that he really flourishes. That’s where Rafael Benitez should be playing him but Newcastle’s current situation has changed that for the club.
Bringing in someone as talented as Ryan Fraser will help change that, especially given the diminutive winger’s power. Despite being very tiny, Fraser has never let that bother him, using it to his advantage, especially in the Premier League.
His height allows him to have a low centre of gravity, which showcases his balance and agility with or without the ball. That combined with his deceptive strength and work-ethic makes Fraser fit to play for most teams in the Premier League.
But it’s that never say die attitude that the Magpies need more than anything, something that Almiron has injected with his arrival. It will definitely boost their team for next season’s mid-table push.

Newcastle United have a chance now to add the right players and help take the club forward. The 25-year-old has proven to be a rather brilliant player for Bournemouth and could be the same for the Magpies.
