Neymar? This £200,000-a-week Euro star is the best player after Messi and Ronaldo

Why is Eden Hazard a better player than Neymar

The Ronaldo-Messi debate is the favourite topic for football fans around the globe as they are the top-2 football players in the world. But are there players who follow the top-2 closely and are there any rivalries like that?

Not quite but the developing Hazard and Neymar rivalry is definitely the one to watch out for now and in the future. Although Neymar is widely regarded as the third-best player in the world and superior to Hazard, that is not really the case.

Here’s why Hazard, who earns £200,000-a-week at Chelsea, is a better player than Neymar.

The World Cup

This world cup was very unusual but very engaging in many ways. There were heavyweights falling on the drop of a hat and there was a great chance for less favoured teams and players to shine.

When most of the favourites like Spain, Germany and Argentina crashed out, it was the perfect opportunity for Neymar to take the mantle and rise from the shadows of Messi and Ronaldo by winning the world cup with a very talented Brazil squad.

Neymar

However, instead of assuming his role and leading his nation to the summit, Neymar failed miserably at the biggest stage in world football. The Paris Saint Germain was also heavily criticised and even mocked for his theatrics at the world cup.

Hazard, on the other hand, proved his mettle by shining as one of the brightest stars at the tournament. The Belgian captain led by example and inspired his team to a 3rd-place finish in Russia.

A strong player in a strong league vs A strong player in a weak league

Hazard and Neymar have undeniable talent and qualities, however, both of them have had very different careers. Hazard has had to fight in perhaps the toughest league in the world with a good squad but Neymar has played for top teams in leagues which are much less competitive and pretty much two-horse races.

Neymar is always likely to rack up better numbers when compared to Hazard because of the nature of the league and their teams.

Hazard has been constantly among the best players in England over the years and it’s time that the player is recognised for that. If Hazard gets a move to a heavyweight like Real Madrid, which he might as per the rumours, the Belgian should establish himself as one of the best players in the world, ahead of Neymar.
