No Dea Gea, No problem – 3 top-class stoppers who Man United can target including promising academy prospect

Three goalkeepers Man United must target to replace David De Gea

According to a report from the Sun, Manchester United will sell goalkeeper David De Gea for £75m at the end of the season.

The Spanish international, 28, who is out of contract next summer, is reluctant to extend his stay at Old Trafford. So Manchester United will trigger a one-year option on his contract to extend it until the summer of 2020 and make him available on the transfer market next summer, the report adds.

David De Gea is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world after recovering from a shaky start when he joined United back in 2011 from Atletico Madrid to win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

Losing a player of the Spanish shot-stopper’s quality would be a big blow to the Red Devils and to their manager Jose Mourinho. Keeping that in mind, Mourinho needs to start spotting potential players to replace De Gea at Old Trafford next season.

Here are three goalkeepers United must target to replace their current No.1.

Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Everton No.1 Jordan Pickford is a household name and is now considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Jordan Pickford

Pickford starred for England at the World Cup earlier this year and is a player who has a sky-high potential. Commanding in the air and blessed with superb reflexes, the 24-year-old is also comfortable with the ball at his feet. And along with it comes the proven Premier League experience, where he is putting in some great shifts at Everton.

At 24, Pickford undoubtedly has his best years ahead of him and United should consider him to replace De Gea.

Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)

Hailed as one of the best goalkeepers across Europe, Jan Oblak has cemented his place at Atletico Madrid.

The Slovenian is strong, commanding and is blessed with fantastic reflexes and vision for distribution. He is also composed with the ball at his feet and can initiate attacks from the back.

Oblak has been brilliant for Atletico Madrid in the last couple of years and if United wish to sign him, they need to break the bank.

Dean Henderson (on loan from Manchester United to Sheffield United)

Why search elsewhere when you have a sublime talent at your own backyard? United can consider not searching elsewhere to replace De Gea as they have one from their own academy named Dean Henderson.

Henderson, 21, is currently on loan at Sheffield United and has already been one of the Championship club’s best players so far this season. The young goalkeeper produced a series of brilliant saves in the 2-2 draw with Rotherham last weekend.
