No Gomes, no problem – Everton’s midfield would become rock solid with the addition of this Premier League star in the summer

Everton Opinion: Would Luka Milivojevic to Everton be a good move?

While Everton do have an option to permanently sign Barcelona star Andre Gomes, there is always a possibility that the midfielder might turn down a move to Goodison Park.

Everton, on the other hand, will struggle to achieve a top-7 finish despite sitting 10th in the table. The Toffees have struggled to make a big impact under new manager Marco Silva, losing 12 out of 28 games so far.

However, to make things worse, they could lose both Idrissa Gueye (Sky Sports) and Andre Gomes (on loan) in the summer. Both stars have been crucial to Silva’s plans this season and replacing them will be a very hard task. However, one man who can do that is Luka Milivojevic.

The Crystal Palace star arrived in January 2017 and has since become a crucial performer for the Eagles. Not only has he become a consistent performer for the club but Milivojevic has evolved to become the best of both worlds.

A midfield destroyer when he first arrived, the Serbian has since adapted to the Premier League and Crystal Palace’s style of play. That combined with defensive onus and tenacious style of play has made him a beloved figure among the Eagles faithful. This is exactly why Everton need to make the move soon.

Not only will the 27-year-old be able to replace Idrissa Gana Gueye but he could also replace Andre Gomes. While Luka Milivojevic’s defensive skills are rather impressive, the Serbian does his fair share of offensive work too.

He can control the play, has a great passing range averaging 80% every game and he averages 1.4 key passes per game (Whoscored).

For Everton, there are few players who can do that and while James McCarthy in his prime was the perfect man for that role, the Irishman’s injury issues have set him back.

Morgan Schneiderlin has done a relatively decent job but the former Southampton man has struggled over the last few seasons. Though he started out brilliantly, things have changed since then and Schneiderlin is not the man to lead Everton’s midfield.

Hence, Everton would be wise to sign Eagles star Milivojevic in the summer.
