Norwich City going all out to sign this 29-year-old striker would do their attack a world of good

Why Norwich City should go all out to sign Lyle Taylor in January

According to TEAMtalk (h/t the Pink Un), Norwich City are one of the English clubs interested in signing Charlton Athletic forward Lyle Taylor.

The report (h/t the Pink Un) claims that Burnley, Sheffield United, Brentford, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest are ‘looking closely’ at the 29-year-old, who has scored five goals in seven Championship appearances this season.

Lyle Taylor joined the club last year from Wimbledon and has impressed since arriving at The Valley. He was in sensational form this season before picking up a knee injury at the start of September, which he only recently recovered from.

The striker will be out of contract at the end of the season, at which point he can leave for absolutely free.

Taylor returned from the bench in the weekend’s defeat to Middlesbrough and the Addicks are now ready to make an offer with the hope of tying him down to a long-term deal, adds the report (h/t the Pink Un). Nevertheless, Norwich City should everything to their powers to win the race for the 29-year-old’s signature in January.

The Canaries are struggling to score – as well as stop – goals which see them currently four points adrift of safety. Other than Teemu Pukki (eight) and Todd Cantwell (four), no other Norwich player has scored more than a single Premier League goal this campaign.

Even after spending a decent amount of money before the start of the season, Daniel Farke’s side lacks genuine competition for their 8-goal top scorer, Pukki.

Pukki continues to be the main man for Norwich when it comes to delivering the goals but with Dennis Srbeny and Josip Drmic failing to start even a single game in the league so far, Farke should dip into the market in January for a new striker.

To put things into perspective, Lyle Taylor would be a good fit at Carrow Road.

Taylor has been a prolific goalscorer for Charlton since joining the club last year. He has scored 30 goals in 52 appearances for the club, which is a fantastic return.

The former Sheffield United man’s composure in front of the goal would hand a massive boost to Norwich’s play in the final third. Moreover, he could compete with Pukki and keep him on his toes.

Verdict

Hence, Norwich shouldn’t hesitate and go all out to sign Taylor as soon as the winter transfer window starts.
