Norwich signing this prolific 28-goal French star would make them a lethal PL force next season – Farke has to get him

Norwich City opinion: Should the Canaries sign Neal Maupay?

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Championship winners Norwich City are set to battle it out with Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Brighton for the signing of Brentford star Neal Maupay.

The young Frenchman was in phenomenal form this season, scoring a staggering 28 goals and 8 assists in all competitions. Brentford are set to make a massive profit on Maupay, who signed for just £1.6million from Saint Etienne back in 2017.

Dean Smith, who signed Maupay in 2017, tried to sign him again for Villa in January but the Bees shocked him with a staggering asking price of £20million.

His stock would certainly have gone up after the last transfer window since he has scored an impressive 9 goals in the Championship after that.

Championship winners Norwich are the only team to have a striker with a better end product than Maupay, as they have Teemu Pukki. He scored a stunning 30 goals and provided 10 assists to lead the Canaries into the Premier League.

Pukki will need a lot of support to come anywhere near this tally and another forward would benefit both the Finnish star as well as Norwich, whose main aim would be to stay in the Premier League at the end of next season.

Neal Maupay would be a phenomenal strike partner to Pukki next season and the duo could form one of the scariest strike partnerships in the Premier League.

The Frenchman’s style will certainly complement Pukki’s and Norwich can be sure of surviving the Premier League.

Maupay is extremely hard working off the ball and is seen dropping back to receive the ball in order to help his team in the build-up. The Frenchman’s style can be compared to that of his compatriot and Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette.

The 22-year-old still has a long way to go before he can be anywhere as good as Lacazette but the signs are positive and the Premier League will certainly help him accelerate his development in the coming years.

Conclusion

Norwich already have a fantastic attack with the likes of Pukki, Hernandez, Buendia and Stiepermann being present but the addition of Neal Maupay will certainly take it to a whole new level.

A strike partnership of Pukki and the Frenchman has the potential to terrorize any defence in world football and Daniel Farke should make sure he gets his man before his rivals do in the summer.
