Not Salah – Liverpool attacker with 20 goals and 8 assists would be a great asset for Real Madrid

According to reports, Real Madrid are eyeing a summer move for Liverpool sensation Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese attacker enjoyed a breakthrough season at Liverpool, scoring 20 goals and providing 8 assists. Mane paired exceptionally with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, as the trio ripped defences to shreds and guided the Reds to the finals of the Champions League.

It goes without saying that the player was in blistering form last season and his impressive displays have unsurprisingly caught the attention of Real Madrid. But should the European champions go after Mane?

Despite winning a La Liga title and three successive Champions League trophies, Zinedine Zidane stepped down last month as Real Madrid’s manager. Now that the French tactician has left Santiago Bernabeu, it will be a priority for Madrid to appoint Zidane’s successor before moving onto signing players in the summer transfer market.

As far as Mane is concerned, the Senegalese stepped his game up in January, after Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool for Barcelona. At 26 years of age, it is evident that he has his best years ahead of him. Since joining the Reds in 2016 from Southampton, Mane arguably enjoyed his best season in a Liverpool shirt in the recently concluded campaign.

One of Mane’s biggest strengths is his versatility. The Senegalese can play on both wings and even through the middle. He is comfortable with building up play from all attacking areas of the pitch. In addition to that, his explosive pace with impeccable dribbling skills has made him one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League.

Mane is a fine dribbler and never shies away from taking on defenders and beating them in one-on-one situations. He is also capable of producing moments of magic while performing defensive duties.

Following Zidane’s resignation, Madrid will undergo a rebuilding phase. Counter-attacking football has been the hallmark of Real Madrid’s game for years and Los Blancos are one of the best counter-attacking teams across Europe. Keeping that in mind, the ongoing transfer window will be crucial for the club.

It remains to be seen if any of Real’s current attackers leave this summer but if they do, the Spanish giants will need high-quality wingers with devastating pace and skill. In that case, Mane could be an ideal fit. If the deal goes through and Mane gets accustomed to the new manager’s style of play, the Senegalese could prove to be a fantastic buy for Real Madrid.
